Maruti Suzuki is working on new products for the Indian market. The new products belong to different segments as the manufacturer is trying to capture all the segments. They want to move ahead in the direction which is currently in demand. They are one of the most cost-effective manufacturers of India who can price the vehicle very competitively in the Indian market. Today we list down 7 new cars that Maruti Suzuki will soon be launching in the Indian market.
Celerio
Maruti Suzuki is working on a new generation of the Celerio hatchback and it has been codenamed YNC. It has not received a substantial update since it was first launched in the Indian market. The 2021 Celerio’s design will be more rounded off instead of being tall-boy like the current Celerio. The Celerio was one of the least expensive vehicles to offer an AMT transmission. The new Celerio will also come with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 67 PS of max power and 90 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. There is also a chance that Maruti Suzuki will introduce the S-CNG variant of the hatchback. There are rumors of the 2021 Celerio to launch in April this year.
Alto 800
According to the reports, there is a new Alto 800 in the works and it has been codenamed Y0M. It is expected to be the least expensive vehicle from the manufacturer. It will still be powered by the 800 cc petrol mill that powers the current Alto 800. The engine produces 48 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 69 Nm. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. It will also come with S-CNG in which the engine will produce 41 PS and 60 Nm. The 2021 Alto 800 is expected to launch during the festive season of 2021.
XL5
The XL5 is a more premium version of the WagonR. It has been spied on a test on Indian roads. The spy shots reveal that the hatchback retains its tall boy design. The new interior will be modified with better materials and features. It will be sold only through the Nexa dealerships of Maruti Suzuki. The hatchback is expected to enter the Indian market in the third quarter of this year.
New Vitara Brezza
Maruti Suzuki is working on an all-new generation of the Vitara Brezza. It has been codenamed YXA and will use the same platform that is used by the S-Cross and the full-size Vitara that is sold in international markets. This will help in lowering the production cost and could also increase the safety of the vehicle. It will retain its boxy design language which is one of the reasons why the current Vitara Brezza is such a hit in the Indian market. It will come with 6 airbags, which is a huge thing because till now all the Maruti Suzuki products come with dual airbags only. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. The engine produces 105 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The new generation of Vitara Brezza is expected to hit the Indian market by the end of this year.
Jimny
Recently, a long-wheelbase version of the Jimny was spied in Europe. It retained all the design elements of the regular Jimny but had a longer wheelbase and a longer rear window. This raises the question that Maruti Suzuki is testing a Jimny with rear seats that have more leg space than the current Jimny. The Jimny has been internally codenamed YWD. There are expectations that the manufacturer will be using the underpinnings from the LWB Jimny and adding two rear doors for easy ingress and egress. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and will also offer a four-wheel drive. The Jimny is expected to launch in India in June 2022.
Baleno-based compact-SUV
Maruti Suzuki is working on a more affordable, compact-SUV for the Indian market. Since the launch, the price of Vitara Brezza has gone up significantly. Also, the compact-SUVs are selling like hot cakes and there is a new generation of Vitara Brezza coming which will also increase the cost. So, it makes sense for the manufacturer to launch a more affordable compact-SUV that more people would be able to buy who cannot afford the Vitara Brezza. It has been codenamed YTB and will be using the 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that produces 88 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 113 Nm. The new SUV is expected to launch sometime early next year.
S-Cross replacement
Maruti Suzuki is jointly working with Toyota to develop a new SUV that will be replacing the ageing S-Cross. It has been codenamed YFG internally and the sales of the S-Cross are not really huge. So, it makes sense for the manufacturer to work on a new vehicle. The new SUV will also be rebadged as Toyota just like the Urban Cruiser and the Glanza. The new SUV will be launching in 2022.
